Damion Harmon
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Certified GrieF Informed Professional
Licensed clinical addiction specialist associate
Damion Harmon, LCMHC, is a therapist with over 20 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate the journey toward healing, resilience, and self-discovery. Known across the community and on public platforms as “Not Your Average Therapist",” Damion brings a unique blend of expertise, authenticity, and cultural relevance to the work he does—both inside and outside the therapy room.
Damion is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and works primarily with adults and families dealing with challenges such as mood disorders, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and the impacts of trauma. Whether through individual or family therapy, he offers a space where clients can be their full selves—where they can unpack life’s complexities, explore new tools, and begin building the life they want.
Damion’s approach is eclectic and holistic, blending DBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), grief-informed, and mindfulness-based practices, and other evidenced-based methods to support the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. He is passionate about providing therapy that is culturally attuned, trauma-informed, and deeply respectful of each person’s lived experience.
Throughout his career, Damion has helped countless adults and families strengthen emotional resilience, improve relationships, and break cycles that no longer serve them. His style is approachable, real, and grounded in the belief that therapy should meet people where they are.
Beyond clinical work, Damion is a well-known advocate and public voice in the mental health space. He serves on the board of Black Male Therapists of Charlotte, and he created The Couch 704—now an evolving platform for public speaking engagements and community-based events that center mental health awareness, cultural empowerment, and the reduction of stigma.
